WPTF2L Season Starts, ETF2L Signups, Welcome Kirkeh

Friday, September 11th, 2009

We have signed up to ETF2L Season 6 and are hoping to be placed in Division 5. In WPTF2L6v6 we played our first league game of the season, beating FLB 5-1 on cp_badlands and 5-2 on cp_fastlane. Next week we will play It’s Just, who were previously known as dXp. The maps played will be cp_granary and cp_freight.

This week also saw the arrival of Satako’s brother Kirkeh, who will be playing medic for us. Finally, all recent friendly results have been entered on the results page.

WPTF2L League Starting, Results Updated

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

We have been placed in Division 5C for season 4 of WPTF2L6v6, alongside vo!tage, It’s just …, Necrotic United Brothers, Keso Gaming, Phoenix Squad, Blazing Gamers and Team Xplosion. The fixtures will be going up tomorrow, with our first game to be scheduled for the following week.

Custom Cup, New Season Signups

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009

We are currently coming up to half way through our FakkelBrigade Custom Cup group section, having lost by default in the first week to Luso-Portugueses and beating X-Squad twice on Week 2. Tonight we play SexyPöxyt on cp_gullywash_rc10 and cp_outlaw_b1.

We have signed up to Season 4 of WPTF2L 6v6. On 6th September signups will open for Season 6 of ETF2L, which we will also be signing up for. It will be good to get back into a full league season, currently many clans appear to still be operating in holiday mode, meaning player attendance is limited.

The results page is now updated with our current Custom Cup and friendly results.

FakkelBrigade Custom Summer Cup

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

We have signed up to the FakkelBrigade Custom Summer Cup and have already begun practicing on the new maps. Getting new maps into the competitive map pool is something we are strongly in favour of, particularly as some clans seem desperate to turn TF2 into a “granlands” only game. Our group placing will be announced later tonight.

The results page has now been updated with almost all recent results. We were taking a bit of time off, but are now back to playing regular friendly games.

End Of Season Review

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Tonight we played our final ETF2L Season 5 game, winning one map and losing one map against dA-Gaming. As we await the other teams finishing off their games, it’s time for a quick review.

After starting WPTF2L6v6 expecting a close season with some good games, we were halfway through and losing games by big margins. This meant we have a squad re-shuffle, which helped, but ultimately we were relegated from Division 7B.

In WPTF2L7v7 we continued the success we enjoyed last season, winning every map but the final one on our final game, making us first place in Division 1. This was largely helped by our non 6v6 players, who play a lot of specialist classes that really come into their own on 7v7 attack versus defence maps (CGS, Ditchy and Sh3ll to name a few). Plus it probably helps that our public server spends 90% of its time on these kind of maps so we’re already well practiced ;)

After having our main demo go inactive, we struggled with a temporary replacement and then had to make do with moving players around a lot in our early ETF2L games. Competing in 3 leagues at the same time made it almost impossible for us to trial a new demo man effectively, meaning we took something like 2 months to find a replacement. Thankfully, TroubleGirl from =Fingerprint= agreed to temporarilly join us until the end of the season, meaning we had a player we already knew was an excellent demo man, which allowed us to worry a lot less about games. TroubleGirl also plays a lot more than we did, which meant we ended up playing a lot more friendly games, which has clearly helped us a lot. In the second half of the season we have hopefully gathered enough points to stay in Division 5. The stuff we’ve learned recently will help us a great deal for next season, whatever division we end up in.

Finally, we did -actually- end up with a demo man after all those trials. A thousand apologies to anyone who didn’t get a response from me, but we have now recruited Satako. He will be playing in friendly games with us over the summer, and is now signed up for all of our leagues for the next seasons.

We also lost a long time regular, the impossible to ignore Swedish/Scottish/Drunk Gryzor, who has moved on to CiC. We wish him all the best in the future.

So thanks to everyone who’s played with us this season, and thanks to all the people we’ve played. This summer we’ll be playing friendlies, if anyone wants to play a custom map in a friendly specifically please get in touch as we’d love to try out some new maps as well as the old ones.

Results Page Updated, Demo Trials

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

We’ve nearly finished our WPTF2L7v7 season, we currently have one game left to play. Having won all our games so far, we are guaranteed a top two position, but hopefully we can put in a good performance and top our division.

We are still trialling demo men, Troublegirl is helping us out for ETF2L until we’ve got a replacement.

Last night we had a close game on cp_freight against Team 31, drawing 2-2 after almost capping in the final miliseconds of the map. Team 31 won the second map 5-0.

Results updated, new patch released

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

The results page has been updated with our latest results. We beat Nicey in our WPTF2L 7v7 game on Sunday, although Nicey were a player down for the first map and 3 players down for the second. We are still awaiting confirmation of our final WPTF2L6v6 standing, however it seems almost certain that we will be relegated.

A Team Fortress 2 patch was released on Thursday, giving the sniper and spy new unlocks. These unlocks are not allowed in leagues until further notice.

Tonight we play Box? in our WPTF2L7v7 game, which promises to be an extremely important match in determining the top placings in our division. We start at 8:30pm and play on pl_badwater and cp_steel, source tv is the usual 9men.org.uk:27040 address.

We are currently still trialling demo men, unfortunately due to our hectic league schedule we haven’t been able to play many friendlies, so this is taking a while. Hopefully everyone will be patient with us, sorry for the delay.

Finally, if you see -9m- Turkey on a server, be sure to ask him whether he’s unlocked the ambassador yet!

WP7v7 Season continues

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

On Tuesday 12th March we started our ETF2L Season 5 campaign, losing 4-1 and 5-2 to Team Delete on cp_fastlane and cp_badlands respectively. On Thursday 14th March we beat CiC in our WPTF2L7v7 game, winning both cp_steel and cp_ramrod. This result means we are currently the only team in our division with a 100% win record. Hopefully this will continue!

On Sunday we hope to play our penultimate WPTF2L6v6 game against ScS. We will then play our remaining game against iw on Tuesday 19th March.

Results Updated, New League Seasons

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Last Sunday we played our first WPTF2L7v7 game of the season, beating DA 1-0 on cp_dustbowl and pl_badwater. On Tuesday we played a thrilling game of WPTF2L6v6 against XC, narrowly winning cp_gravelpit 2-0 and drawing cp_fastlane 4-4 after going 4-0 down. Fastlane in particular was a tremendous effort by everyone, well done.

Next week we start our fifth season of ETF2L, against Team Delete. This means we will be playing 3 league games a week, which will mean we’re not available for friendlies until we finish WPTF2L6v6 in a few weeks time.

We have also welcomed Weevil back, after almost a month’s absence due to PC problems.

Results Updated, Clan Roster Changes

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Our results page is up to date with friendlies and league games. Last week we lost to Phoenix Squad 7-1 on cp_granary and 7-0 on cp_badlands in WPTF2L6v6. This week we play Auth on Thursday at 8:30pm, and we also start our WPTF2L7v7 season against DA on sunday at 8pm.

We have had some re-schuffling of clan members, Zimri joins us and Viluliina leaves us. We are currently considering getting a second/main demo.
